Suburban Detroit in the 1960s and 1970s was a great place to be musically, and it was here that Steve's roots took hold. He started drumming in the early 1970s, playing in various pickup bands and learning a wide variety of music styles. Steve prides himself in being able to play rock, jazz, country ... whatever the music dictates. He moved to Phoenix in 1979, and immediately joined the local scene playing in a few weekend bands. He hit the road for a couple of years in the early 1980s with Canadian performer, Billy Dark, playing every one horse town in the west. Upon his return to the Valley, he put time in with Robert Street, laid down zydeco and Cajun beats with Desert Gumbo, and performed for a few years with David Dodt and the High Fi's. Most recently, Steve has on a bit of hiatus from live playing live, but as we all know, "the beat goes on" and during that time he has been collaborating with musicians over the Internet to produce a respectable catalog of recordings. Having missed the energy of performing live, Steve is looking forward to filling that void as the newest member of The Cover-Ups.
